The following pictures are of Smart N Chexy, a 2000 AQHA mare by Bueno Chexinic out of Chelsea
Lena. She was the only mare to make the finals of the 2006 Worlds Greatest Horseman competition and ended up 8th.
"Smarty" was 3rd high score in the preliminary Steer Stopping competition. Smarty was originally owned and trained by
Darren, later purchased by Crystal Ward, Lincolnton, NC, and was returned to Darren for training after he went out on his
own. Going into the competition the mare had only 4 months of Cutting and Roping training and ended up 8th overall!
Thank you Crystal for the opportunity to show this nice mare!

At right is a photo of Peponitas Little Gal, a 2001 mare by Peponitas Acre out of Lemacs Little
Girl. She is owned by Darren's son, Reed Lawley. "Shortcake" was started as a 3 year old by Darren and did not
enter the showpen until 2005. In 2005 she was the Limited Open Hackamore Champion for the South Central Region of the
NRHCA in just 3 shows. In 2006 she earned the Reserve Champion title with only 2 shows. In 2007 she was top
10 for the Limited Open Bridle and only shown once. She and Darren had a great show at the 2008 Worlds Greatest Horseman
competition, falling just short of making the finals because of a bad go in the cutting. Photo
